Lip Care

To the best of my knowledge, no one has invented lip mittens yet.  So, we’re left to fend for ourselves in the winter battle of dry, cracked, chapped lips.Since moving to the mountains, I’ve noticed my lips are much drier and more sensitive to the cold air; my usual Chapstick routine isn’t working anymore.  Also as we age, our lips have a tendency to chap more easily. Here are a few things we can do to help prevent chapped, cracked lips, treating them from both the inside and outside. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.  We have a...

Kat Von D Eyeshadow

Kat Von D has a new eye shadow palette available, Shade Plus Light Contour.  It may be better than the extremely popular Naked Palettes by Urban Decay.  Thoughfully designed in 3 color quadrants, the powders are a matte finish, perfect for midlife skin. The collection offers a selection of both warm and cool tones. My daughter Heather does make-up for films and is very discriminating about the products she uses. She loves this new palette, and all of the KVD products she’s tried. Her comments, “Nice eye shadow is so amazing”. She’s shown wearing the base color at the...

Supergoop Review

Have you tried Supergoop BB cream?  It’s one of my new favorite makeup products. When I received the small sample of Supergoop in my Birchbox, I didn’t pay much attention.  It got thrown into a small makeup stash in my bathroom and forgotten. Fast forward to a morning when I needed some foundation quick.  I grabbed it, squeezed the tiny tube and once I started applying it, the love affair began. Supergoop is primarily a sun protection product line. This new offering is a combination sunscreen and foundation with an SPF of 35+.  It goes on smoothly and really...

Angel Lift Review

Have you heard of Angel Lift? If you’re a Shark Tank fan, you may have seen the product when they were pitching for funding from the Sharks.   When I first saw the Dermastrips, it made perfect sense to me.  A girlfriend from my old neighborhood and I had both been ‘late in life’ braces gals.  She was in her early 40’s, I was in my late 40’s (yes, I turned 50 with braces on).  When we got our bands off, we both noticed how full and ‘pouty’ our lip area looked.  It didn’t last.  Slowly, the youthful fullness...

bareMinerals Complexion Rescue Review

bareMinerals Original Foundation has been my go-to for several years now. It’s good coverage, the luminescent finish and ease of use have kept me coming back.  The company recently introduced a new foundation product, Complexion Rescue, a tinted gel cream. I’ve been reading that those with more mature skin (aka: me) shouldn’t be using powders, it just makes our skin look more like a road map, with the little particles settling into the cracks and crevices. In my last trip through the mall I picked up a tube of this new foundation. Half liquid foundation, half gel, the product...
