bareMinerals Original Foundation has been my go-to for several years now. It’s good coverage, the luminescent finish and ease of use have kept me coming back.

The company recently introduced a new foundation product, Complexion Rescue, a tinted gel cream. I’ve been reading that those with more mature skin (aka: me) shouldn’t be using powders, it just makes our skin look more like a road map, with the little particles settling into the cracks and crevices. In my last trip through the mall I picked up a tube of this new foundation.

Half liquid foundation, half gel, the product glides on very smoothly. It has the same magical, luminescent effect as the powder and my skin immediately had that signature bareMinerals ‘youthful, dewey’ glow. The effect lasts most the day.

The coverage is light to medium, so if you’re looking for something more effective, this is not going to meet your needs. It does have a non-chemical broad spectrum sun screen, SPF 30, which is nice and almost expected at the $28 price tag.

It feels light on my skin and the gel doesn’t migrate or clump up. The moisturizing ingredients really work, providing skin quenching coverage without feeling greasy.

For those of you looking for a light foundation with an effective moisturizer, this is a great product. I would especially recommend it for those with medium to dry skin. For me, it’s a good alternative when the weather isn’t too warm. I’m one of those who still has oily skin in my fifties (think wrinkles and pimples), so wearing this in hot weather is not an option for me.

You can find bareMinerals Complexion Rescue at Macy’s, Sephora and Ulta, as well as other department and beauty stores.

Do you have a favorite foundation? I’d love to hear about it.
