Are you familiar with the NYX brand? If not, you’re in for a treat.

NYX is the answer to “why can’t they make good cosmetic products at a reasonable price?”  NYX offers a full cosmetic line at very affordable prices. They claim to be professional quality, which may be a bit of an exaggeration, but even if they don’t quite meet those standards, many of their products are quite good.

I was turned onto the line from my youngest daughter (21) and that seems to be the age they’re marketing to. However, there are many selections that work well for the Over 50 Woman and I’ll cover each I’ve come to love over time.  The quality is on par with many much more expensive brands and the price can’t be beat.

The Lip Liner pencil is always in my makeup bag, and at this point, I have no intention of going back to the $20+ brands. This liner is exceptional, it has a ‘stiff’ staying power and yet doesn’t end up feeling dry on my lips. At the $3.49 price tag you can’t go wrong!

This version is a wooden pencil that requires sharpening, not my favorite application option as so much of the product get wasted in the sharpening.

To avoid too much of the product ending up in the trash, I put my lip liners in the freezer before I sharpen them.  I also use a metal sharpener from the art supply store  ($4.99) — a much better tool than you’ll find in most cosmetic departments.

Place your lip liners in the freezer before sharpening to make the process easier.

The liners come in a wide range of colors, a total of 32 at this time. Nude Rose is one of my favs and you’ll find it goes with almost any neutral/pink lipstick shade.

Give one of the colors a try, I think you’ll be hooked.
