Summer is almost here and it’s time to put our nice feet on. For me, that means putting away the winter boots, pulling off the fluffy socks and taking a look at what’s happened down below over the winter.
(It’s also when I again wonder when my feet moved to another zip code. I have fond memories of painting my toes in years past, now it’s a task best left for the professionals. I just can’t imagine focusing on that region for very long. Can you?)
However, there are a few favorites for foot care that I do at home.
One of them was recommended on a gift list and I shared it with a few girlfriends at Christmas. We got together about a month ago to enjoy our Baby Foot Exfoliation together.
Baby Foot is not like any exfoliation experience I’ve had before. It comes in two pre-packaged plastic footies that you secure around your feet, then put socks on while the magic formula works.
When done, rinse your feet and wait. In about 7 to 10 days your feet will start peeling. Dead, rough skin will literally start dropping off. The experience was a little different for all of us, but I was staying in a hotel at the time and really felt sorry for housekeeping. I was leaving a trail everywhere I went. The old skin of winter was falling away and leaving a fresh new summer glow. Baby Foot is amazing!
If you’re not using a crystal nail file on all your nails, you might want to give one a try. The benefit is they seal the keratin layers together at the edge of the nail, preventing peeling and chipping. They can also be cleaned and sterilized. I just use soap and water on mine, they dry quickly. This one is from Sephora, but you can also find them at most beauty retailers and drug stores.
When I really need to deep moisturize my feet, I’ll apply a heavy application of lotion before bed and put on a pair of cotton socks. I wake up to soft, smooth feet. Do this for a week and you’ll be surprised at the results. Here are a few of the best selling moisturizers for dry, cracked feet:
- Coconut Oil, Trader Joe’s always has a good selection at a great price
- L’Occitane Foot Cream, anything by this brand is fabulous
- Eurcerin Foot Cream, available on Amazon if you can’t find it at your local drugstore
- Curel Foot Therapy, again, here’s a link if you can’t find it locally
Time to give your nice feet a little love!
